Yes, the mortarboard doubles as a chop board too Pic from tnp |
Though he is only in his late twenties, he already has 5 stalls to his name, with more in the pipeline. Googled his name and thankfully found a more in-depth article on Youngtalents.sg which highlighted his ideals (to revitalise the fishmongering industry) as well as some of the difficulties he has faced in starting up his own business.
He has brought in marketing techniques to freshen up the industry, introducing a franchising model which gives his employees ownership as well as to maintain high service standards. More interesting were the hiccups he has faced along the way - he has two previous failed ventures which taught him valuable business lessons (and also taught him who his true friends were). Although he suffered financial setbacks, he has always come back stronger and i particularly like this quote below:
It is okay to fail but please do not give up; because success is just around the corner. You just need one or two more successes to cover up your past failures
Hats off for his passion, willingness to take risks, perseverance and daring to go against the grain. Hope he does well and we get to hear more of his exploits in the future.
